Weekly Geeks #20: The year’s best (so far), Audience Participation edition!

You may recall that the object of Weekly Geeks #19 was to start compiling a list of book bloggers’ top books published during 2008. This week, Dewey is proposing an expansion on that assignment:

Let’s see if we can get our readers to help us come up with our one big top books of 2008 list. The more contributors we have, the more accurately our final list will reflect the book blogosphere’s opinions.

So if you haven’t already done so, post your list of the NEW books (published in 2008 for the first time) you would rate as the best you’ve read this year on your own blog. Please note that you do not have to be a “bbok blogger” or have a “books blog” to participate – the only requirements are that you’ve read a few books published within this year, and that you’re willing to write a post listing your favorites (regardless of genre).

Once you’ve done that, go to the main post for Weekly Geeks #19 at The Hidden Side of a Leaf and add your name and the URL of your “favorite books” post (not your general blog URL) to the Mr Linky over there. (Yes, this assignment really is Weekly Geeks #20, but Dewey’s trying to collect all the links in one place.) You have until Saturday, October 11 to add your link!

Posting your list and linking it to Weekly Geeks will not only put your favorites into contention for the “Best of 2008” voting, it will also give you a chance to win a box of 11 books in Hachette Book Group’s “Election Giveaway.” And if you leave a comment along with your link mentioning that you heard about the project and giveaway here (please include my link in the comment!), you’ll give me an extra entry in the giveaway too.

Please let me know if you join in and make a list, so I can be sure to check it out!

  1. Hmm. I think I’ve read 3 books published this year, and one was an anthology. It would be a short post. 🙂

I need to do better next year!

  2. Mike – My post last week only listed four books. And if it weren’t for the review books, I probably wouldn’t have read ANY published this year.

I think I just need to read MORE books next year, period.
