Friday Fill-ins (on Saturday)…with bonus!

In order to compensate for not having the “Friday Fill-ins” done on Friday, I’ve got some extra ones in the second half of this post.

=====================================

Friday Fill-Ins #75

Questions courtesy of One Knutty Knitter.

  1. Idle hands are probably holding a book (if they’re mine, that is).

  2. I love my shower creams and gels from The Body Shop in the shower.

  3. My favorite time of the day is when I get home from the office!

  4. The last tea I drank was green tea, on ice, and mixed with lemonade.

  5. I like to wear shorts and open-toed shoes in the Summer.

  6. My mother always said I’d know when I found “Mr. Right.” (She was right…the second time.).

  7. And as for the weekend, (last night) I plan(ned) to go to my Book Club meeting or Girls’ Night Out (it’s the same group; where we end up depends on how few people can make it!), (today) my plans include some writing, some chores, and maybe Elder Nephew’s last Little League game and Sunday, I want to try to see Sex and the City with my sister!

This open-ended fill-in meme was stolen from Kori (who answered it a bit more seriously than I will). Since she stole it from another blog in the first place, she said it was OK to take it. If you feel like answering it too, steal away! (Just let me know if you do, so I can check out your answers.)

My Ex…. sister-in-law is still a good friend of mine. Maybe it’s more accurate to say she’s still family; I don’t know that we really have enough in common to be friends otherwise. She even made the cross-country trip to attend my second wedding – you know, the one where I married someone who wasn’t her brother.

Maybe I Should…. figure out what I really want to do when I grow up; get more serious about making the necessary financial preparations for a possible career change; listen to my husband and buy some lottery tickets? No, probably not that last one. Try not to think too much about the whole concept of “should”? Yeah, maybe I should do that.

People Would Say…. almost anything to anyone, if they weren’t afraid they’d get a few teeth knocked out.

I Don’t Understand…. a HUGE list of things. Where should I start?

When I Wake Up In the Morning…. it’s usually pretty early. I haven’t been capable of sleeping late for years, since it seems like there’s always something I need to take care of first thing (a child, a dog), and I like to have a little time to myself before the day really kicks in.

I Lost…. a fair amount of my savings paying legal expenses and a settlement related to a stupid lawsuit. The people who bought my ex-husband’s and my old house sued us (and the pest-control company) over termite damage they found several months after they moved in, which they claimed we hadn’t disclosed. We didn’t KNOW about it – so yeah, therefore, I guess you could say that we didn’t disclose it. I am not a big fan of civil lawsuits anyway, and that experience really soured me on them.

Life is full of…. the unexpected; the things that happen while you’re busy making other plans.

My Past Is…. probably a larger chunk of my lifespan than my future at this point. Cheerful thought, isn’t it?

I Get Annoyed When… I have to deal with people who seem to think that the rules don’t apply to them.

Parties Are… places where I am not in my element. I like being a guest at small gatherings where I know almost everyone, and I’m fine with hosting or helping out, but big, noisy social scenes just make me feel lost.

I Wish…. that there was enough time for the things I want to do, and less time eaten up by the things I have to do; that I could work from home more often; that I felt more financially secure.

Dogs… are my favorite critters in general, although there are definitely breeds I’m not terribly fond of (mostly small yappy ones and really ugly ones).

Cats…. are acceptable pets if the alternative is a small, yappy, and/or really ugly dog.

Tomorrow…. never comes, so you might as well just jump in and do whatever you’re going to do today (enjoy it if it’s good, get it over with if it’s not so good).

I Have a Low Tolerance for…. intolerance. Seriously. Closed-mindedness, complacency, and an overly-developed sense of one’s own certainty are among my least favorite traits in people.

If I Had a Million Dollars…. I’d play that Barenaked Ladies song and do some of the things on this list.

I’m Totally Terrified…. of anyone I love meeting a sudden, unexpected, and violent fate, whether the cause is natural (weather disaster) or human (accident or crime) – but it’s not something I spend a lot of time dwelling on. Too scary.

  1. That stinks about the house. How can you tell someone something you don’t know? People are too lawsuit happy.

I can’t stand the little yappy dogs either. I don’t see the point. I don’t mind cats, but my wife hates them, so we will never have one. I’m OK with that; I don’t like cat litter. 🙂

  2. My Ex…lives in Washington state on a farm and rebuilds karmann ghias and old VW vans

Maybe I Should…go take a shower and get to the hospital to visit Dad

People Would Say…what they’re going to say

    I Don’t Understand…so many things.

When I Wake Up In the Morning…I stretch, cuddle with Wolf and check to see who was on the late night show with Craig Ferguson.

I Lost…my Nana’s ring in Japan. The good thing is…I know right where it is…somewhere in Japan! (reminds me of the scene in Harold & Maude where Harold gives Maude a ring…and she tosses it into the water)

Life is full of…so many things.

My Past Is…filled with so many things 😉

I Get Annoyed When…I’m not patient enough, when people snap their gum, etc., etc.

Parties Are…sometimes fun, sometimes a burden.

I Wish….I had my own home.

Dogs…are waiting to get their long weekend walks!

Cats…used to be my favorite pet.

Tomorrow…comes after today, if we’re lucky.

I Have a Low Tolerance for…drama, bullshite, noise.

If I Had a Million Dollars…I’d still eat Kraft dinner 😉

    I’m Totally Terrified…of spiders.

Thanks for playing, Florinda, hope you have a great weekend 🙂

  3. I love getting home from the office too. A warm greeting from the animals, a chance to set my burdens down . . . Such a good feeling!

I was just telling my husband he’s starting down the downward slope of life now. I always give him a hard time on his birthday. 😉

The annoyance you list is one of my big ones too. Grr.

I hope you have a good weekend!

  4. Mike – I totally agree that people are too lawsuit-happy. I thought so even before that happened, and I feel even more strongly about it now. Stuff happens. It’s not always necessary to find someone to blame and/or make them pay for it, you know?

If anyone does see the point of small yappy dogs, please enlighten us :-)!

Janet – Thanks for playing the other fill-in!

I have a low tolerance for the same things you mentioned. And as for eating Kraft dinner – I still would too, I’d just eat more :-D!

  5. Literary Feline – Being greeted by your pets when you come home from anywhere – but especially after a day at work – is the best!

My brother-in-law is six weeks younger than I am, and I spend the whole time between our birthdays getting razzed about being old. But I have less gray hair than he does (well, I do color it, but that’s not the point) :-D!

Have a great weekend too, Wendy, and happy birthday to Anjin!

    Thanks for playing, Jennifer!
